Textured Vase
Thrown on a wheel from midfire white clay, this vessel carries the kind of surface you can't fully plan. Sodium silicate was applied to the wet form, then stretched to crack the clay surface. Gas-fired to cone 6, the heat seals those fractures into permanence.
Every crack is different. The silicate resists where the clay is thickest and splits where it's thinnest, so the pattern follows the form rather than fighting it. You guide the process, but the fire decides the finish.
